Robison
Retreat
is
the
perfect
peaceful
setting
for
relaxation,
reflection
and
rejuvenation.
The
property,
located
at
592
Cape
John
Rd.,
was
settled
in
the
mid
1800s.
The
owners
constructed
a
traditional
Nova
Scotian
one
and
half
storey home with barns and many outbuildings on the present site.
John
and
Leah
purchased
the
property
from
the
Robison
family
in
2008.
In
spring
2010
the
demolition
and
removal
of
the
barn
and
various
outbuildings
that
were
beyond
repair,
began.
After
many
hours
of
planning
and
design,
foundation
work
began
in
late
October
2010.
The
original
sun
porch
was
removed
and
reconstructed
as
well as a two level 20’ x 20’ addition constructed on the east end of the main house.
The
house
now
consists
of
a
new
sun
porch
(with
powder
room
on
the
side)
leading
into
an
open
farmhouse
style
kitchen
with
a
wood
cook
stove
and
adjacent
dining
area
with
stone
fireplace.
The
back
pantry,
to
the
west
of
the
kitchen
is
equipped
with
washer
and
dryer
and
has
a
back
entrance
to
the
garden.
The
front
“parlour”
room
remains
intact
with
original
tin
ceiling
and
elegant
wood
trims.
A
spacious
master
bedroom
with
a
king
bed
and
four
piece
ensuite
bath
are
on
the
main
level
in
the
new
addition.
Upstairs
there
are
three
spacious
bedrooms,
each
with
a
queen
bed.
Also
on
the
second
level
is
another
four
piece
bath
with
an
air
jet
tub
and
separate
shower.
Throughout
the
renovation
much
thought
and
care
have
been
taken
to
maintain
the
unique
character
of
a
traditional
farmhouse.
Salvaged
barn
beams
and
barn
boards
were
reused
to
add
to
the
design
and
décor
of
the
exterior
and
the
interior
of
the
house.
Locally
purchased
and
milled
pine,
maple
and
spruce
have
been
used
for
flooring, trim work and cabinets throughout.
As
with
all
of
our
farmhouse
properties
at
Amet
View,
Robison
Retreat
offers
all
of
the
modern
conveniences
of
fully
equipped
kitchen,
laundry
facilities
and
outdoor
clothesline,
satellite
TV,
stereo,
private
phone
line,
WiFi,
and
propane BarBQue on the deck.
